with love, dresden and the moonlight
Hello October and your delicious brisk.
Also called spooky season, with your beautifully eerie, raw and glamorous aura. You’re always welcome!

View of Dresden by Moonlight (1839)
Painted by the Norwegian artist Johan Christian Dahl (24.02.1788-14.10.1857), his talent stuns the hell out of me.
It looks like a moment in life that you would capture with your camera and simultaneously manages to catch and immortalize a feeling, and even a moment, just perfectly. His attention to detail makes sense when you learn that Dresden was one of his, if not THEE, favourite city in the world. And it shows with the amount of respect he pours in to this painting. As if he’s paying homage to Dresden. And himself?
There is a sense of calm and nocturnal silence that jumps out of this piece of art.
You can hear the rushing of water from the river, the sounds of a city and feel the gravel beneath your feet.
One becomes instantly captivated, almost enchanted by it and can even really envision themselves walking by said river and reflect over whatever is occupying ones mind.
There’s a certain emotion that awakens within me when viewing this piece that I can’t quite find the right words to describe it. Its as if I understand this painting. I recognize it. It’s familiar. Safe even. I blame this on my forever love for the nocturnal and dark aestethic and way of life.
